About The Peace Foundation

The Peace Foundation was established in order to promote the development of a more peaceful and caring society through education for peace. We have well-established programmes in schools and the wider community, which have helped thousands of New Zealanders, resolve conflicts and improve their lives. Our headquarters are in Auckland and we have offices in Wellington and Christchurch. The Wellington Office is running the Babel Project. We would love to see you all so pop in and say hello!! Peace Foundation’s programmes include:

  • Cool Schools Peer Mediation: teaching pupils how to mediate conflicts between their peers
  • Schools Outreach: helping teachers integrate Peace Education into their classroom teaching
  • Media Peace Awards: encouraging and rewarding media that educates public about peace initiatives and approaches
  • Youth Peace: educating and empowering youth about peace issues and how they can make a difference
  • Disarmament: increasing New Zealand’s role in the global abolition of nuclear weapons and other weapons of war
  • Schools Peace Week: a week of school activities for the promotion of peace
  • Peace Cities: encouraging cities to actively promote peace and conflict resolution at home, in the community and internationally.
